Springdale, AR (2023)
Springdale, AR is a documentary about people from the Marshall Islands, in the South Pacific, who now live in the titular Northwest Arkansas town. They have come to live and work in the US as a result of American nuclear testing conducted in the islands in the 1940s and '50s. This series of nuclear explosions has had devastating effects on the health of the Marshallese people, their culture, and on the islands they call home.
Now with climate change threatening the habitability of the Marshall Islands, it is likely that many more people will be forced to leave. Will we be prepared to accept them?
